That's Peachy meets Jameela Jamil

Jameela Jamil: Presenter, Model, Fashonista.
I'm sure you all know about Jameela, and if you're anything like me, you will spend half your time drooling over her well put together outfits of vintage pieces mixed with designer and high street... she's one of those women who seems to be able to look great in anything!
I've been so excited to share this post with you all, as last week, Jameela agreed to be interviewed exclusively for my blog!

Hi Jameela, thanks so much for agreeing to talk to me for my blog!
no worries!

How would you describe your style?
comfortable, retro, glam???

Who or what is your biggest style inspiration?
SOPHIA LOREN and generally the 60's. I love women who celebrated their curves.

What do you think makes you unique in the 'celebrity fashion world'?
I don't think I'm remotely unique in the fashion world.

What are your favourite current fashion trends?
I hate trends. I refuse to follow them. But I am always a fan of british festival wear. We do like no other.

Who is your favourite designer?
I love Tibi, william tempest and LP.BGand Charlotte Olympia shoes

Which is your favourite high street shop?
It's a tie between urban outfitters and topshop.

Do you enjoy charity/thrift shopping?
I love it, finding a steal that you KNOW is a one off, feels a bit like getting away with a crime... plis i LOVE to customise and recycle..

Do you watch any fashion themed TV programmes?
no... sorry... i feel like i should now!!! to be honest I really like to find my own style and not be influenced too heavily by others. this the reasons I refuse to have a stylist. If i cock up (which i do frequently) I want it to be on MY terms.

What percentage of your wardrobe has never been worn?
0%. I'm also a repeat offender. I find the idea of only wearing something once physically repulsive

What do you do with your unwanted clothes/accessories?
anything I wouldn't sell my mother for, i don't keep, I either give it to charity or find a better home for it...or I buy dye and beads and give it a complete makeover.

What is your must have fashion item at the moment?
My nude Kurt Geiger cork wedges...

What has been your best fashion/beauty bargain?
My black topshop ankleboots, I have worn them practically every day for two years and they still add the finishing touch to any outfit...even the red carpet ones.

...and your most extravagant purchase?
topshop raincoat. £170...I was too scared to wear it in the rain incase it got ruined...(I'm a fuckwit...i KNOW...)

What was the last fashion item you bought?
I bought a beautiful vintage camel coloured sheepskin and suede coat. I can't bloody WAIT for winter... I also bought an authentic army hat from the 40's, I love it so much I could eat it. (i wont)

...and the last makeup product?
nars ALBATROSS highlighter. it accentuates cheekbones and lights up your face so subtly but effectively...

and finally, what are you wearing right now?
Urban outfitters recycled army jacket, one shouldered body from topshop, old vintage cut off denim shorts, a vintage bronze HUGE wrist ciff and my christopher kane for topshop studded ankle boots. I look like i'm going to Fashion War!

Thanks so much again! Bye!
Thank you. sorry if I've just spoken absolute nonsense. I'm still learning!!!!

Come On England!

Another big day for England today...
As a big football fan, this is really exciting for me, I love England!

If you're cheering on the boys this year, and using it as an excuse to have nights out, why not do it in style in this England Playboy Bunny costume?!
This is from Missimo, and it's an official Playboy product.
I have one, and it's amazing quality! Its made from satin, and the corset top is boned and laced up the back, but it actually fastens with a zip up the side - so it's really comfy to wear, as well as being really flattering!

I always thought of these Playboy costumes as a little bit slutty (for want of a better word), but I really don't think this is... it's just a bit of fun! And the great thing about this, is because it isn't a once piece, you can wear just the corset top on it's own with jeans or a skirt if you want a less 'costumey' look.

Just think if England do win today (fingers & toes crossed), and then if we make it to the final, there will be so many World Cup parties to go to... everyone will be wanting one of these!
Sorry to those of you who don't support England, the website only stocks this team's costume, although I'm sure others will be available somewhere.

The full costumer includes the corset, knickers with bunny tail, ears, collar, cuffs and Playboy cufflinks... all for £48.00

I won't scare you all by showing you a photo of myself in the costume, I thought I'd just use the stock photo of the pretty lady hehe!

If you want to get yourself one, just head over to Missimo before they sell out! Missimo is a website which sells some really cute tshirts with pictures of Disney characters, Miffy, Care Bears etc... all the retro cartoon characters from the 80's! They're so nice, and would look great with jeans, for a cool, retro look! I have been sent a few of these to review, so I will be posting more about them soon :)

Enjoy the footie today everyone... Come On England!!

My Favourite Nail Polish Ever!

I have lots of nail polishes, and my collection is forever growing. I just can't resist buying new bottles and adding to my rainbow of colours which I have already accumulated. I have one polish, which has been my firm favourite since I bought it, but just recently, I discovered a new way of wearing it, so I thought I would share it with you!

The nail polish I am talking about, is OPI 'Do You Lilac It'. I bought this about a year ago, from eBay, and it was my first OPI. I was very impressed, and definitely think they are worth the price tag! They apply smoothly, dry quickly, and I have found that I only usually require one coat to get the full colour pay off.
It is quite a dark lilac colour, but I just think it's stunning, and I would guess that it would suit almost every skin colour. I find it really wearable, and use it for day and night... I just can't get enough!
The pictures above are without flash (left) and with flash (right). Both with just the one coat of polish... beautiful isn't it?!

A couple of weeks ago however, I bought another new polish, this time I got China Glaze 'Rainbow'. This is a sheer, iridescent pearly white colour, which I adore on its own, but it is very subtle. I decided to start experimenting with it a bit, and I tried wearing it on top of my OPI, as a shiny topcoat, and I instantly fell in love! (yes, with my nails!)
The photo unfortunately doesn't show it in it's full glory... in real life, it looks amazing! I tried all sorts of lighting to show this to it's best, and this is the best I managed.
I think you can see that it makes the nails look really pearly, and I think this is a lovely variation of 'Do You Lilac It' for summer wear. In the sunlight, the 'Rainbow' polish picks up every colour you can imagine, it's just so pretty!

Do you have any recommendations for nail polishes to layer?.. I'd love to try more!

My Spring It Review

I have talked about different methods of hair removal quite a lot on my blog lately, and here I have a review of another product for you, this time for facial hair.

Most women will claim they don't have any facial hair, while others will admit to having a little dark hair on their top lip, but in truth, everyone has it...allover the face, and until you try this product you probably wouldn't realise just how much 'peach fuzz' type hair you have on your face.

I was sent a product called 'My Spring It', which is a tool designed to remove that kind of hair.
Based on appearance, it doesn't look like it would do much... but it is quite a clever little thing! It works in a way similar to threading, it doesn't damage your skin, and it removes hair from the root (so there is no danger of any hair growing back thicker!)
Basically it is a very bendy spring, with handles at either end. It comes in a cute little black pouch, so you can keep it in your handbag or makeup bag and it will stay clean.
To remove the hair, you have to bend the spring, apply to where you need the hair removing, and twist the little handles... this creates the threading effect, the spring turns, rolls up and down the face and traps the hairs, removing them as it goes. Initially, this is quite a difficult concept to get used to, I found myself dropping the My Spring It a few times, getting it a bit of a twist with my fingers and missing areas, but after a bit of practise, it does get easier.
(sorry the picture is a little blurry!)
It isn't as painful as you would expect either, the first few feel a little painful (along the same lines as plucking a hair) and it tingles a little, but you can't really expect no pain when you're removing hairs from your face! I actually found it quite therapeutic after a while!
It is quite surprising how much of that 'peachy fuzz' type hair you actually have on your face, especially the cheeks, just imagine how smooth your makeup will apply with that hair gone!
I was also really pleased to find that it didn't make my face sore or red at all, I was quite worried about this, with the area being so sensitive, but it was totally fine.

You can see videos and read more about the My Spring It on the website here!
If you would like one for yourself, they cost $15.99 each, with $2.60 international shipping, this converts to a total of £12.45 for us in the UK. The shipping from America was really quick for me too, so you won't have to wait long!

Hair Envy

After seeing this beautiful photo of Cheryl, I have serious hair envy!
She has had some amazing styles in the past, including her blunt fringe in the 'Call The Shots' video, which I had my hairdresser recreate with my hair, but this has to be my favourite look of her's ever. She just looks amazing, so gorgeous!

The colour, the curls, the volume... it's just stunning!
I have a few new products which I am going to use to try and re-create this look, though I won't be copying the length or the colour... I love my long dark hair a little too much to be chopping it off or stripping the colour.
So yes, just the curls and the volume I'm aiming for, but for me, thats the best bit!

Who is your hair crush?

I'm On Cloud 9

If you haven't heard of Cloud 9... Where have you been?!
You may remember I was lucky enough to receive some of their straightening irons to review (see my initial Cloud 9 post here)...
Well, I know it's been a while, but I wanted to give them a thorough use, and try all techniques with them, so that I can give a full and honest review.
I have always been a big fan of straighteners, my GHD's in particular, and usually I wouldn't be tempted to try another brand, but Cloud 9's intrigued me, mainly due to the temperature control settings. The only thing that has ever put me off using my GHD's is that I'm worried about the damage the very hot heat causes my hair... even with heat protection spray, the thought of straightening my hair daily just isn't good. Cloud 9's are sold on the promise of 'less heat, more style' and the iron is 'designed to give you exactly what you want, the flexibility to create a range of styles, at lower temperatures.' An excellent selling point in my opinion... it definitely caught my attention!

What Cloud 9 say:
Just Like Heaven...For Your Hair
Imagine… a hair styling iron that allows you to achieve breathtaking results - without constant, searing heat.
Well, it’s arrived and gone are the days where you at the mercy of one temperature setting – high. The brand new Cloud Nine iron, brought to you by the founders and inventors of the original ghd iron*, will allow you to take instant control - drop the heat, increase the heat - and enter another world of styling.
From natural and smooth, to experimental and bold, you can now get the hair you want, everyday, no matter what its type, your challenges or your hair-aspirations.
With its low, medium and high heat options, six in total, and a perfectly constructed, rounded barrel, Cloud Nine is one tool that enables you to achieve a whole range of finishes. You can create natural curls and waves, or even simply smooth a blow dry, as well as crank up the heat when you do need to achieve something more structured or adventurous.
The varied heat settings also mean you can adjust the temperature to suit your hair type. Finer hair may not require white-hot temperatures to smooth out a kink, while thicker hair can benefit from a variety of heat settings as you style layer-by-layer.
Poker straight hair delivered through searing heat, and the same look day-in, day-out, is over. With Cloud Nine, you can, at last, go a bit easier on your hair, while discovering a whole world of flexibility. Curly, wavy, straight or voluminous - you choose.
Look closely at the iron’s black ceramic plates, and you will see they contain an element of pearl sparkle. This patented technological element actually adds extra shine to your hair
The fact that these irons are created by the inventors of the GHD's meant that my expectations for the Cloud 9's was very high before I even opened the box.
Speaking of the box... the packaging; I really like the box which the irons come in. As you can see from the photographs, everything is black and turquoise with white text, and everything is very simple. I think this gives a very professional, stylish image. The box comes in a protective sleeve, which I think is a great idea because the box is so nice, I really wouldn't want it to get dirty or damaged - yes it's the type of box you really don't want to throw away! It's quite a solid box, which opens in a really interesting way. The irons fit snugly inside the box, with everything else (the plug and cord, bag etc.) all tucked away neatly underneath.
In the box you get; 1x Cloud Nine Iron, 1x Heat Guard and 1x Styling Tips & Iron Safety booklet.
The irons are very sleek and slim, much like a GHD iron, but slightly more rounded, making curling and styling much easier. It has the Cloud 9 logo on a silver panel on either side, ribbed panels on the tip of the irons and Cloud Nine written on top. The only bad thing about the design is, when the irons are in the heat guard or clamped shut, there is a gap at the end of the irons which seems to trap skin quite easily. I have caught my fingers in this a few times and given myself a blood blister :( This is something which you get used to avoiding though, as I haven't caught myself for a while!
They have a swivel cord which I love! This is a patented design, and it totally prevents getting the cord knotted and twisted when I'm curling my hair.
They have a slide on/off switch on the inside and opposite is the temperature control panel which lets you select the correct temperature you need depending on your hair type and the style you wish to create. Both sets of controls are really simple to use and the irons heat up to their maximum temperature in just over 10 seconds.
The plates themselves are black and glittery/shimmery. They contain a 'secret ingredient' which Cloud 9 are keeping very tight lipped about! This secret ingredient claims to give your hair a shiny natural finish with every use of the iron - and it does! The first time I used the irons, I was so intrigued by this, that I decided not to use a heat protection spray on my hair (naughty I know) just to see how much shine it gave on its own, and I was very impressed, my hair almost has a gloss to it - amazing!
The heat guard which comes with the irons is the best idea, it's so simple and useful, I can't believe it hasn't been thought of before! It's a lovely turquoise colour, matching the box and it simply slides on and off the irons, so that as soon as you have finished using the straighteners, you can safely lie them down or pack them away, without fear of burning your house down, or burning yourself - genius! The irons also have a hibernation mode, which means they will cool themselves down after 30 minutes, so again, no fear of leaving them on and having your home burn down!
The little booklet which comes in the box tells you all about the irons and the company, plus it gives you tips on how to achieve certain styles with the Cloud 9's. It's a great little guide to give ideas as the Cloud 9's aren't just a straightener, they are a styling iron, and a great one at that! I am completely converted and I have used these constantly since I received them, my GHD's are a bit redundant now!

As you can see in the 'before and after' pictures below, they are really great at straightening hair. I had the irons on 175 degrees to achieve this look, and it took around five minutes!
I will be doing a mini series of blog posts showing different hair styles I have created with the irons, so keep checking back for those!

Cloud 9 irons are available in standard size (which I have), wide size and micro size. The full size irons (standard and wide) retail at £129.95 and the micro size is £45.00
I think they are well worth the money, you will definitely get your money's worth and plenty of use out of them!
Currently Cloud 9 are giving away a bottle of St Tropez Perfect Legs tan with the full size irons!

You can check out their website and buy your own Cloud 9's by clicking here!

Mavala Paradise Nails - Flamingo Pink

Mavala nails have released two new collections of gorgeous polishes for summer.
My favourite is the 'Paradise' range. (Below)
The range features colours which will give your nails a bright pop of colour - perfect for the summer months ahead.
L-R Spicy Red, Flamingo Pink, Vibrant Pearl, Mango Orange, Paradise Blue, Tangerine.
The prefect collection of summery holiday colours to match every outfit and for every occasion!

I was lucky enough to be sent three of the polishes from this collection; Flamingo Pink, Mango Orange & Tangerine aswell as the Mavala Colorfix top coat.

The first polish I tried was the stunning 'Flamingo Pink', not in any way similar to Barry M's polish of the same name... this is a much deeper, darker pink.
The application of the polish was really easy, it went on very smooth, and I found the brush a great size which was easy to control. One layer of this polish alone would be enough, the colour is really glossy and bright, although I chose to apply two coats in hope of it lasting longer.
Without a topcaot, the polish isn't very long lasting at all, it started to chip off my nails after just a couple of hours, however when I applied it with the Mavala top coat, it lasted a couple of days before it began to chip at all. The topcoat is reinforced with acrylic to protect the colour and prevent chipping. The polish alone, as I said, is very glossy and has tiny particles of shimmer in it, making it really beautiful. It almost reminds me of coloured glass - that's the look it gives when on your nails! With the Colorfix ontop, it's even more shiny and beautiful.
Sorry about the not-so-perfectly painted nails. Both photographs were taken after one days wear with two coats of polish plus the topcoat and I used the flash on my camera. The flash appears to have made the polish look a little watery on my nails, but trust me, it's not... it's really perfect.

If you haven't heard of Mavala before, they were voted 'Best Nail Colour Brand' in the Natural Health Beauty Awards 2010. They have been on the market for over 50 years and to top things off, their polishes are completley free from any toxins.
You can buy Mavala polishes from larger Boots stores in the UK, find your nearest stockist here!

I will be posting about the other two colours as soon as I can!

Glamour Awards [winners & losers]

...and by winners and losers, of course I mean their outfits!
It was the Women Of The Year Awards, so everyone turned up looking fabulous... well, most people!
My favourite outfits of the night go to the following two ladies...

Nicole Richie, it's hard to remember Nicole back in the 'Simple Life' days... gone is the dodgy makeup and fake tan, the chavvy clothes and the bleached hair extensions.
Nicole has totally transformed from those days and is now a stunning brunette. This dress, I believe, is from her 'Winter Kate' range... isn't it gorgeous?! I wish I could afford some of her designs because they're amazing!
The colour is very much on trend (can't get enough of the nudes this season!) and it totally complements her hair and skin colouring.
I love how she has kept her hair simple, with subtle dewy makeup, and then gone for a slight rocker look with her silver bangles and black nail polish.
As well as looking fabulous, Nicole also had reason to celebrate, because she was the winner of 'Entrepreneur of The Year' award!

Next up is the beautiful winner of 'Woman of The Year'... you guessed it, Miss Cheryl Tweedy! (Tweedy?.. I don't know what to call her at the moment!!) Anyway, as usual, she looked absolutely beautiful. She chose to wear an 'underwear as outerwear' style dress by Julien Macdonald, which I adore from every angle.

Look at the detailing on the dress... its stunning, and I love how it's long at the back and short at the front, I sense a new trend beginning! Her perfect makeup, lovely hair pulled to the side, her handbag and those Jimmy Choos!! I'm super jealous of the entire outfit!

My other winners of the night go to;

Rachel Stevens - who is looking fabulous in her pregnancy
Fearne Cotton - always a favourite of mine, still with gorgeous hair!
Kelly Rowland - can't go wrong with a bodycon dress & I love the diagonal strap

Zoe Saldana - stunning dress, I love it
Claudia Winkleman - such a simple, vintage inspired outfit (and amazing boots)
Abbey Clancey - I'm starting to like the jump suit on the red carpet look, the added belt makes it look great too!

Now onto the losers of the red carpet (for me anyway)...

Denise Van Outen - I know she has just had a baby, but it doesn't mean she needs to dress 20 years older than she actually is! (Mummies can be sexy too!)
Alexandra Burke - this is just a little too 'try hard' for me, it kind of reminds me of an Egyptian princess costume!
Tess Daley - very boring and very creased... say no more.

Christine Blakely - ...again creased mess (nice colour though)
Lily Allen - just too much black for me, too baggy and hate the sleeves
Pixie Geldof - worst of the night for me, looks like she's rolled in off the streets!

& finally, the outfits I just couldn't decide on...
Diana Vickers - I LOVE this dress, and the accessories, I just don't like her hair, it completely spoils the entire outfit for me. I know top knots are totally in right now, but it's just too harsh for her.
Pixie Lott - she looks a little like a slutty school girl? Even though it's cute, its also a mess!
Not sure who the last girl is - a little too OTT, looks like something off the catwalk which should have been toned down for red carpet.

Who were your winners and losers?

Outfit Of The Day

I love floral prints, and I love denim, so I mixed them both together to create this spring time mish-mash!  I wore this a couple of weeks ago when I went out for the day with my boyfriend and our baby, just to town then for some food :)

You may have already seen this outfit on I Know What You Wore This Summer, which is a great blog dedicated to bloggers OOTD pictures (go follow it!), however I thought I would share it here too!

I'm wearing a denim cropped waistcoat from Primark (£9 I think), Rose print tunic/dress from Topshop (although I bought it from eBay for £8)... I have quite a few of these tunics in different colours, they are one of my favourite basics, you can really dress them up or down! I am also wearing Topshop ankle length black leggings (£22), a big white Primark ring (£1.50) and a necklace which I won in a blog contest.
I tied my hair back into a scruffy bun and kept my makeup simple with just  a little foundation, blush, eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick... Okay, that sounds like a full face, but I didn't put lots on, I promise!
I was also wearing Nails Inc 'Haymarket' on my nails... the perfect summer colour! If you haven't seen my review on this, you can do so by clicking right here!

I'm hoping the real summer weather arrives up North soon so that I can ditch the leggings without freezing... we're always last to get the decent weather!
