Monday Mugshot #1

Just squeezing this post in before midnight.
I've been wanting to do a post series for a while now, and didn't really know what to do until today, when I was playing about with Photo Booth.
I thought I'd start sharing a webcam picture of myself every week under the title 'Monday Mugshot'.
Hopefully you like the idea..?

I took this just before I went out to the shops with my boyfriend and daughter this morning.
You can even see a little glimpse of Elodie at the side of the picture (I think she was watching Mickey Mouse!)
I hope you've all enjoyed your Bank Holiday Monday! Have you done anything nice?

Leopard Print Nails

I bought myself a few new Nails Inc polishes last week, they are by far my favourite brand of nail polish, so when I see them in Boots on the 3 for 2 offer, I find it hard to resist!
I decided to try out a bit more nail art with two of the colours which I thought went perfectly together; St John's Wood and Wellington Square.

This leopard print look was really easy to achieve. I'm definitely going to be doing this design again with all sorts of different colours.
For the black lines, I simply used a black liquid eyeliner and then used a topcoat to stop it wearing off.
For the purple, I only required one coat of St John's Wood, and it dried in under a minute - making this design so simple and quick to do!
Nails Inc polishes never fail to amaze me.

You can buy Nails Inc polishes here - they have some amazing new colours online now!
You can also get Wellington Square in a two pack with a lovely red on offer from ASOS.

Getting Busy, Doing Nothing

Jumper: New Look
T-Shirt (worn underneath) - Topshop
Shorts - New Look
Belt - New Look

This is what I wore to work yesterday. I loved this jumper as soon as I saw it, it's a gorgeous ladder knit in a really chunky fabric, yet it's still cool enough to wear in warmer weather, and great to layer up. I just added the belt to give a bit of structure and shape to the outfit.
I don't really like wearing loose or baggy things as I think it makes me look much bigger than I am. Girls with smaller chests can get away with it and look really chic, but unfortunately, that doesn't work for me.

As you can see, I have also added another pair of shorts to my massive collection. I literally live in shorts every day of my life at the moment. These are so cute and summery... how could I say no?!

My hair looks so dark in these photos, I'm not too sure why though, because everyone is saying how light it looks lately. I'm stuck in a bit of a rut with it at the moment, I can't decide wether to re-ombre it, but take the blonde much higher, or to go back dark, or even a bit red... HELP!

On a random note, I can't stop singing Olly Murs new song 'Busy' at the moment... hence the name of this post. It's the perfect song for driving in the sun :)

Bring On The Sun

Dress: Primark
Belt: New Look

I am aware these photos are practically identical, I just couldn't decide which to use.
I bought this dress from the swimwear department in Primark last week. I guess it's meant to be used as a beach cover up because it is very see through.
I am going to use it as a dress though, partly because I love it so much, and partly mainly because I'm not going on holiday this year!

This entire outfit was a total bargain; the dress was £7 and the belt was £2.99! It's not very often you can put a decent outfit together for under a tenner!

I was a bit daring here and wore it with nothing underneath (except underwear of course!) but this was purely for the photos. In 'real life' I would at least wear some sort of slip underneath, maybe a vest too, depending on how warm it is.
I love the double layer on the top part of the dress, and the extra detailing around the top layer and the hemline, it's so cute and girly.
The waist has a pull tie, but I added my belt just to give it a little extra shape.

I'm just hoping for some good weather up here in the North East now, so that I can rock this with bare legs and brown flip flops. I really want a tan... look how white my legs are!!

The Baftas Television Awards Best Dressed

Seems like all the Red Carpet events are coming at once lately!
Anyway, here are my favourite outfits from Sunday night's Bafta Television Awards.

Kara Tointon was my best dressed of the night, closely followed by Cat Deeley.
I think they both looked really glamorous, Kara went for the Grecian approach with her hair and accessories, while Cat went for typical Hollywood glamour style.
Jenni Falconer and her bump looked beautiful, and Louise Redknap pulled off this jumpsuit in prefect style. I'm not usually a fan of trousers on the red carpet, but I think she looks fab!
Finally Amy Nutall's dress really caught my eye, I love the pleated skirt and the detailing on the top of the dress.

After hearing The Only Way Is Essex won an award, I was really looking forward to seeing Amy Child's dress, because I love her. Unfortunately Amy didn't make it onto my best dressed list though... did you see her dress? She looked like a golden bride!

Keep Rollin'

Top: Topshop
Vest: New Look
Jeans: New Look
Hat: New Look

I love this hat and I've been wearing it so much lately. It actually makes a bad hair day not that bad.
I wore it in my outfit post which disappeared during bloggers fail last week, but it's now back, so you can see that here if you missed it.
I bought this Topshop top quite a while back now, and I kind of wish I had got it in a couple more colours too. It's so comfy and versatile, it looks good dressed down like this, or dressed up tucked into a bodycon skirt with jewellery.

I wish I had more time to blog lately... I'm currently on day 5 of 7 at work without a day off, and it's beginning to catch up with me. I can't wait until Wednesday so I can have a sleep in!

I have quite alot of blog posts planned for when I get chance to do them, as I have a new camera!! I'm very excited about this. My boyfriend treated me <3

Soap Awards... The Worst Dressed

Did you all watch the Soap Awards tonight?
I was a bit disappointed that Hollyoaks didn't win more, but at the same time, really pleased Brendan got two awards - he's my favourite character!

Anyway, as the best dressed list I posted proved such a hit, and a few of you requested a worst dressed list, I thought I would cooperate.

These were my least favourite outfits of the night...

First up, the McQueens from Hollyoaks. I wasn't really feeling any of their outfits this year. I think Jennifer Metcalfe's was a little too try hard, too revealing, too weird.
Gemma Merna's choice was a bit too old for her in my opinion, and Claire Cooper was the biggest disappointment for me, as I usually love her outfits, this year I just didn't think her dress did her any favours and looked a bit cheap. (oops... I'm sure it wasn't!)
Another two Hollyoaks ladies, both on the list for the same reason really; I think these dresses are a little too revealing for their thin frames. I don't like the dropped waistline on Stephanie Waring's dress with the really low back and the slit up the front, it all looks a little out of proportion.
Ashley Slanina-Davies is so tiny as well, I just don't think a dress so low cut is the best style for her.
My final Hollyoaks entry onto this list is for Bronagh Waugh. Although it isn't as bad as last year's dress, this really isn't a good look. I think maybe she should sack her stylist?!
Brooke Vincent, Sacha Parkinson and Shobna Gulati all from Coronation Street weren't looking their best.
I don't like the colour or the style/cut of Brooke's Lipsy dress, and with her hair up in the top knot (which I don't think is a good look for an award's ceremony) plus no accessories, I think she looks far too bare.
Sacha's hair and makeup look lovely, and I like the colour of her dress, but I just don't think it is a flattering shape on her, it's a bit too oversized.
Shobna seems to have her own individual, quirky style, but I am just not a fan!
Paula Lane's dress is okay at a glance, but I didn't really like the cut out panels with the animal print edging, it makes the dress look a bit tacky.
Suzanne Shaw's outfit is okay too, but I think she has over accesorized. Without the gloves, the belt and the hairband, I think this would have been much nicer. (and very similar to what Dannii Minogue wore to the Brits?!)
Last up, Charlie Clemmow, Donnaleigh Bailey and Georgia May Foote.
I think Charlie and Donnaleigh both look very dated and neither dress is flattering at all.
Georgia's has similar problems to Paula Lane's dress above, it's just a little tacky, although I love the colour of this one, she would have looked so much nicer in something classier.

Do you agree?!

British Soap Awards 2011

This year's British Soap Awards was held last night in London, and the red carpet was pretty much full of disaster outfits. I mean, I'm sure all of the ladies were happy with how they looked and loved their dresses, but for me, there weren't too many dresses I would choose to wear.

I love this event, and covered the red carpet on my blog last year too. You can see my best dressed from last year here, and my worst dressed here.
The weird thing about looking back at these posts is, the majority of the people who I featured on my favourite outfit's list last year, wore some of the worst one's this year!

These are the few outfits I did like...
Sarah Jayne Dunn from Hollyoaks looked so cute in this dress! I love the colour, and the style. I think the pointy shoulders with the soft pleated skirt are gorgeous together and her hair and makeup are really pretty. A definite thumbs up from me.
Michelle Keegan was one of my favourites last year... actually, she always shines for me. I think she is stunning, and this dress shows off her curves perfectly, while she still looks very classy.
Rachel Shenton's bold hair and makeup look lovely on here here, and I do like the dress. The only thing I don't like about it is the fabric. I don't think it's overly flattering, although the colour and the style are gorgeous.
Katherine Kelly's dress is such a gorgeous colour. I love the cut of it, and the yellow edging which gives it a great edge.
Jessica Forest wore this very quirky little ensemble, which you wouldn't usually see on a red carpet. I think it's great she stuck to her own signature style and I think she looked really cute. I love the ankle socks and her side bun!
Natalie Anderson never fails to look beautiful. This dress is stunning on her, and the colour woks so well with her dark hair. This is kind of in joint place with Sarah Jayne Dunn's as my favourite of the night.
I almost didn't include Samia Ghadie on this list, simply because her dress last year was so much nicer than this one. I do still like this though, very simple and pretty.

Would you like a 'worst dressed' rundown too? Let me know x

Know What I Mean, Peaches & Cream

I went for a meal with some friends last week and forgot to upload my outfit photo on here, gosh I am such a bad blogger!
(my hair looks sooo short here... boooo!) :(

I wore head to toe New Look (for a change).
Peach sleeveless blouse, which is actually really long and took me a good while to get tucked into these shorts properly! Teamed up with the most gorgeously comfy and flattering high waisted denim shorts, black tights and my brogue style ankle boots, my outfit seemed to be in that happy medium place between too dressed up and too dressed down.

I think this is about as close as I am going to get to the colour blocking trend this season. I am loving my pastel colours far too much at the moment, I just wouldn’t be happy going all out with the brights and primary colours, and as you possibly guessed by my blog name, I quite like peachy colours.

P.S. Do you like my title for this post? Or are you all too young to remember the band 112?! I loved them!!

Race Day

One of the things I love about Summer weather, is spending a day at the races.
I love horses, but I'm no gambler (I always loose anyway, so there's really no point).

For me it's all about the outfits, the picnics and the sunshine.
This is what a wore when I went to Thirsk races my boyfriend last weekend. I just wish the photo was better so you could see the outfit properly, unfortunately it's another iPhone effort.
(I have a new camera so this is one of the last iPhone photos you will see on here!!)

I'm absolutely in love with this blouse, you can probably guess that it's from New Look.
The colour is a gorgeous coral/pink, and I love the contrast of the bright with the black bow neck tie. It's also a slight variation on my beloved peter pan collar, this time with a scalloped edged collar.
It's also available in white, and I have to admit, I will probably end up buying that too!

The shorts are one of my most go-to items in my wardrobe at the moment, they're so versatile.
I wore the black brogue boots which I practically live in, and black tights. I would have got my legs out, but they really are far too white, I'm going to have to go on the search of the perfect fake tan.
Lastly, of course you can't go to the races without wearing a hat! This is another NL beauty, which I have been wearing loads lately... I'm definitely a hat person.
