Last night saw the launch of Illamsqua's latest makeup collection 'Human Fundamentalism' in Leeds.
The room was an explosion of colour; tye-dye fabrics, retro sweets, milkshakes and cherryade... not to mention the makeup itself gave the small room a magical atmosphere.

We got to watch a Human Fundamentalism video, which can be viewed on the Illamasqua website, and saw an exclusive behind the scenes video from the photo shoot.
I also chatted to Alex, and she told me all about the day of the photoshoot, the styling, the models, the props and the outfits. I was amazed to hear that some of the models used in the campaign, were found by Illamasqua on the streets on London... and they looked just as great as the other models. She also gave me an insight into the meanings and inspiration behind the promotional photos for the collection.

Then it was time to have a play with the products themselves. At first glance, the collection is bright and bold, perfect for the brave and eccentric... the greens, purples and yellows look amazing together. After closer inspection, the collection also hosts some very wearable, neutral colours too. There is something for everyone.

My favourite products from the collection would have to be the palettes, and the bright, minty green nail polish 'Nomad'.
One of the palettes is the perfect neutral palette, which includes four shades ideal for eyes, eyebrows or contouring. The antique gold powder 'Vintage' which is included in the 'Neutral Palette' is absolutely stunning, it's very metallic and shimmery on the skin and very three dimensional. The other palette; 'Fundamental Palette' is very bright, and contains a silvery coloured liquid metal, which if you haven't seen before, you will love. The liquid metals are so easy to apply, and very effective... they look very wet on the skin (hence the name!) The palette also has a matte mint green pigment, which is a complete contrast of texture to the liquid metal, and two eyeshadows in yellow and purple, which are opposing colours on a colour wheel.
One of the MUA's 'Amy', painted lots of the bloggers nails at the event, and Nomad stood out to me as a must have!

It was a great night, as it always is at an Illamasqua event! Make sure you check out the blogs of the other girls who attended the event... they're all fab!!
