For approximately three weeks I have been using Illamasqua Skin Base foundation, so I thought that I would share my views on the product with you.

I was first drawn to this foundation, simply because of the brand... Illamasqua is my favourite makeup brand, and has been for a while, so as a soon as they released this foundation, I was desperate to get my hands on it. I know it has been around for quite a while now, and you may be sick of seeing reviews on it, but I know everyone has different skin types and views, so why not share mine too?!

When I visited the counter in Debenhams in Meadow Hall, Sheffield, I was quite shocked to see how many shades were available... 26 in total! Maybe I'm a bit of a makeup dummy, but to me, that's a lot of shades to choose from, which can only be a good thing! It definitely means there's no excuses for badly matched foundation when it comes to using this.

I was asked if I wanted an exact match to my skin, or a slightly warmer tone, and decided to go slightly warmer because of the time of the year and the fact that I generally wear a bit of bronzer etc. The makeup artist patch tested a couple of shades and let me choose which I preferred, and I went for number 7, which I find works great with my NW15 (Mac) skin.

The packaging is pretty plain and simple, and comes in a black box. I love the fact that the bottle is squeezy (hate glass bottles!) and the neck of the tube is really small, so it's easy to control how much product comes out.

Described as 'easily blendable, it effortlessly creates a perfect complexion. Suitable for all skin types, it smoothes, softens and conditions your skin whilst providing natural, buildable coverage'.
I entirely agree with this statement, I have quite a few problem areas with scars on my skin, and I find the coverage is excellent. I have no problems with my dry skin when using this either, it is really moisturising and applies evenly and smoothly.

The consistency of this foundation is what I would describe as average. In comparison to other foundations, it is much thicker than Estee Lauder Double Wear, but thinner than Mac Studio Sculpt.
I find that applying this with my fingertips works perfectly fine.

Another thing I must point out about this foundation, is the smell... it smells incredible! Like vanilla! I'd much rather apply something that smells nice to my face than something that doesn't, so this is a major plus for me.

When applied on a morning with a light dusting of powder to set, I find that it lasts all day without needing any touch ups - very impressed!
I will definitely be repurchasing this.
