There's nothing I love more than a plum lip for this time of year, back in the drawer go all the pinks and nudes, and out come the purples, berry shades and plums. It's fair to say that I'm a little obsessed, and I think that a simple makeup look with a dark lip looks amazing throughout the colder seasons. For me these four are the shades worth shouting about.

First up; Benefit Hydra-Smooth Lip Colour 'Fling Thing' - This is the newest plum shade to my collection, it's the most stunning deep pink/purple colour which works so well with my pale skin tone. These Benefit lipsticks are a cross between a lipstick and a lipgloss, they have the pigmentation and consistency of a lipstick, yet they're as moisturising and as glossy as a lipgloss.
This can be applied lightly to give a sheer wash of colour, or it can be built up to give a very vampy, bold lip. I've been wearing this during the daytime, with really simple makeup.

Models Own Lipstick 'Plum' - I've raved about Models Own nail polishes for years now, but I've never mentioned their lipsticks before, and I'm not entirely sure why because they're fantastic! This is a red toned berry colour, with a slight shimmer and gloss to it. It's highly pigmented and goes onto the lips wonderfully, with a full colour payoff in one application. I love this one for nights out as it's so bright and bold, and luckily for me this shade works well with a bit of a tan or with snow white skin (perfect for when I can't be bothered to layer on the fake tan!)

Miners Cosmetics Matte Effect Lipstick 'Vixen' - The most 'purple' of all of the lipsticks, this is a matte finish, which is so perfect for Winter and looks amazing with a dewy foundation. You do have to be quite brave to wear this one, but it's such a statement, if you are brave enough, it will look amazing. I haven't worn this one during the day, but for night time, I love it... it's very 'Rihanna'. Miners lipsticks are probably the most highly pigmented lipsticks I have ever used and this one is no exception, it's also really long lasting. It's also such a bargain, so even if you're not going to wear it loads, you're not throwing your money away on this one.

Rimmel Kate Moss '107' - Possibly the most famous plum lipstick in the blogosphere. This is the one that everyone loves and raves about. This is another matte lipstick, so if you're going to be wearing this, give your lips a good buff with a lip scrub first and you're good to go. There's something very classy about this lipstick, the colour just looks expensive and unlike some matte lipsticks, it applies really well. The consistency is quite creamy, and the colour is really highly pigmented when applied... I can definitely see why everyone loves this one so much!
