My aim for my makeup throughout Winter is mainly to disguise the fact that the cold weather wrecks my skin, secondly I try to achieve a fresh faced look with the products I use more so than any other time of the year. I think when everything is at it's dullest and driest, making it glow is the best way forward.
I've never been the biggest fan of a matte face, so over the years I have experimented with my fair share of bases, highlighters, foundations and other products to help achieve a dewy finish to my skin. As a primer I have been reaching for the Vichy Idealia Life Serum which conditions my skin whilst leaving an illuminated finish to my skin, the perfect base for my foundation of choice; Illamasqua Skin Base which is just wonderful for my skin, it's moisturising and has the freshest finish when applied. It looks completely natural, but perfected and definitely gets the 'holy grail' tag from me!
After the base, I have been using my usual brow products and mascara for my eyes, and for a little bit of a brighter look I've been using a light shade from my Naked Palette for the inner corners of my eyes. On my cheeks I've been wearing a peachy or pinky toned blush for a natural flush kind of look (Benefit Majorette is my go-to for this) with a light highlight on my cheekbones, my favourite lately has been the Nourish Golden Glow shimmer, applied lightly with my Real Techniques Stippling brush which gives a pretty, yet subtle shimmer to the cheeks.
When it comes to my lips, I've been wearing anything and everything... a matte lip works really well as a contrast to dewy skin or a bright lip really helps to lift the whole look. My favourites at the moment are shades from the Kate Moss Rimmel lipstick range, they're moisturising, pigmented and really long lasting.
