My favourite blush colour for daytime during the Winter months has to be pink, on my pale skin it gives a really natural cold cheek flush to my complexion, it's an easy to wear colour and goes with the majority of lipsticks and outfit choices.

The pink I've been reaching for most recently is Contour Velvet in 'Rose' from the Joan Collins Beauty range. Until very recently, I was oblivious to the makeup line but Joan is an experienced woman when it comes to beauty, she has been in the entertainment industry for around 60 years and I'm sure she's used more than her fair share of products... to call her an expert wouldn't be stretching the truth too much., so it's no wonder really that she's branched out into creating her own makeup line, and from what I've tried so far she's done a pretty good job.

My initial thought about the products was a bit of a worry that they would be a quickly produced celebrity endorsed range that look better than they work, but after a little swatching and testing of the bit I have, I'm pleasantly surprised and I've found myself wanting to try more!

The packaging of the blush is very glamorous and classy, it comes in a navy and gold box, with a picture of Joan on the side. Had the photo been on the front it would have looked tacky, but they've kept it subtle and done it the right way, this box would fit in wonderfully on any high end makeup counter and not look out of place. Inside the box is a gold cased compact (upping the glamour), it's sturdy and well made, with a large mirror in the lid and a little on the go sized brush to use to apply the blush.

The blush itself is a slightly blue toned pink powder. It's very finely milled and blends beautifully onto the skin. The brush that comes with it is reasonable, although I have preferred to use my Real Techniques Blush Brush, purely because it's bigger. It's a really natural finish when applied, it is buildable to give a brighter pop to the cheeks and it gives a slight glow to the skin without being glittery at all. When I've been wearing this for work, it's been lasting all day without having to touch up... always a bonus!

At £22, I think this is really reasonable and worth investing in and if Rose isn't the colour for you, they're also available in three other shades (Coral is next on my wishlist!)
