I would say this is a sign of my age and regretfully admit that I'm getting old, but maybe it's just a sign of the times. The more people I speak to, the more I realise that I'm in the majority rather than the minority when it comes to these thoughts. Recently, My Voucher Codes carried out some research which showed that more people are choosing to stay in, save money and relax rather than going out and spending.
My ideal weekend would be a Friday evening pamper night to wind down after work. Now that I've moved into my new house, I have a bath (it was only ever showers for me before!), so Lush bath bombs, candles, maybe a little bit of Ronan playing softly in the background and a face mask sound like my idea of real relaxation... I'm not so much of a drinker anymore, so I'd skip the glass of wine and swap it for an orange juice! If I'm lucky, I'd have my boyfriend cooking me a nice meal while I was in the tub to enjoy in front of the tv while catching up on some Sky+ or my One Tree Hill boxsets before an early night. Definitely much more appealing than a night of alcohol, bad music, (even worse dancing) and a dodgy kebab on the way home... also cheaper and healthier!
Rather than shop on a weekend, I choose to take Elodie to visit family or we go for family walks on the beach or to the woods when the weather is good... it's fun, we get exercise and work up a good appetite for another home cooked meal on the afternoon. I do enjoy eating out, but we try to just stick to one meal per month, otherwise it can become a very expensive hobby! I'm not much of a cook myself, but I do love to bake, so myself and Elodie will bake brownies or cookies to snack on for the rest of the weekend.
A Sunday is spent psyching myself up for Monday... I usually have a bit of a lazy day, get some blogging done and watch some films with Elodie in our onesies (such a guilty pleasure of mine!)
Maybe getting older or enjoying staying sounds boring, but I'm certain it's not. You can still see friends, just invite them over and take turns cooking for each other... one of the best things me and my friends did was a 'Come Dine With Me' day where we all made a separate course of the meals and then watched films on the night, I'm sure we all enjoyed it more than any girls night out we'd ever had! If you're wanting to stay in more but are stuck for ideas, just ask me on Twitter, I'll soon reply with lots of ideas for you.
