Maxi Dress / Kimono / Sandals: Miss Selfridge | Watch: Olivia Burton | Rings: Primark

When I was challenged by Miss Selfridge to style one of their maxi dresses in their #MaxiDressToImpress campaign, I couldn't wait to choose a dress and get started with accessorising.
It took me a while to whittle down all of the beautiful maxi dresses and choose the one I loved the most, but when I spotted this beauty in my local store and realised it was even more special in real life than it looked online, I knew it was the one.

Maxi dresses are a must have for me every Summer, they're so easy to wear, so comfortable and versatile and they really do look great. Every time I go away, there's always a couple of maxis in my case either to throw on over my bikini, to wear wandering round in the daytime sun or to dress up with some chunky wedges for nighttime.

I always sway towards black, grey and white... a definite monochrome girl at heart, but I actually don't own many white dresses, which surprises me because I do believe they are a real wardrobe staple for Summer - every girl needs one. This is the perfect choice; the aztec pattern on the mesh overlay is subtle but edgy and really adds something special to the dress, the cut out detailing on the back is really pretty and eye-catching, the fact that it's from the petite range and fits me perfectly (no trailing on the floor gets a thumbs up from me!), the way the white fabric makes even me look tanned(!) and the ability to style in so many ways.

If I wasn't so consciously putting this outfit together in my head when I picked it out online, I would have just chosen to wear it with my leather jacket and some chunky gladiator sandals, but I really wanted to step away from the black and white colour palette that is 'so me', for a change. I love the print and the colours of the kimono so much, they warm the look, make it much more versatile for daytime and give it a festival/boho girly edge... if I was on my way to V Fest, all I'd need would be some flowers in my hair and I'd be good to go!
The peachy colours in the kimono match perfectly with the rose gold caged sandals I chose to complete the look, which add to the comfort and ease of the entire outfit... I just need the sun to hang around a little bit longer so I can get plenty of wear out of everything.

How do you like to style your maxis?
