Earlier this month I attended the Metro Radio Christmas Live concert in Newcastle, every year around Christmas time Metro bring together some of the best selling artists of the year to put on a show for the always packed arena, and for me, this one was the best yet... Olly Murs was there again (as you probably realise I kind of love him!) and I finally got to see Ben Haenow, I'm obsessed with his voice so I was really excited to finally hear him live.

Olly opened the show with his full band, and brought instant energy and excitement to the stage... singing his latest hit Kiss Me (after admitting he'd never kissed a Geordie), new single Stevie Knows and everyone's favourites Troublemaker, Wrapped Up and Up, which he performed with Vanessa White from The Saturdays. Five songs were over too quickly, but Olly always manages to put on a real show, and there couldn't have been a better opening act.
Christmas Live always get it right with the stage order of the acts, they mix old with new and don't save all of the best acts until last, it always keeps the crowd buzzing and the atmosphere is amazing throughout.

Next on stage were a last minute addition to the lineup; Reggie & Bollie, who were on there promotional week for the XFactor final. Although their vocals aren't the best, they undeniably got the whole crowd up on their feet, dancing and singing along to What Makes You Beautiful and I Gotta Feeling... the younger members of the crowd were loving it, including Elodie!

The final highlight of the night for me was Ben, who sang his new single Slamming Doors, latest release Second Hand Heart and last year's Christmas Number One; Something I Need. I'm looking forward to seeing him on his own tour in the new year, but to properly hear his voice for the first time sent shivers down my spine, even if it was only for three songs! I was pleasantly surprised to see so many tweets from excited fans waiting for him to arrive onstage too... sometimes I think X Factor contestants and winners can have a hard time gaining support these days, but it seems like Ben's talent has outshone the X Factor shadow.

Other acts on stage that night included Nathan Sykes (another amazing voice to hear live), Dappy, Lunchmoney Lewis, Sigala, Grace and local X Factor singer Josh Daniel.
The concert was great fun, and although I was noticeably older than the majority of the crowd, I still loved it. Taking Elodie to her first concert was so much fun, and she had the best time... we can't wait until next year!
