I stopped writing monthly favourites posts a long time ago, but decided this year to write three-monthly updates on my favourite products throughout the year, or quarterly favourites if you will...

I've explained before that monthly favourites felt too pressured for me, the end of the month kept coming around too quickly and I felt bad if I hadn't found new things I wanted to talk to you all about. Last year I didn't bother with monthly favourites at all, and saved my favourites post for the end of the year, which worked, but I missed sharing new discoveries, so hopefully this will be the perfect balance for me.
This post is a couple of weeks later than I wanted it to be (the OCD in me knows this should have gone up on April 1st) but nevertheless, here it is and here are the products I have enjoyed using the most so far in 2016.
I received Nars Sheer Glow for Christmas, but didn't start using it until mid February when my foundation at the time ran out. This has always been a foundation I liked the sound of and something I have wanted to try for years, but for some reason never got round to buying for myself, I think this was mainly down to the fact that there isn't a Nars counter where I live, and with high end foundations, I always like to sample before I buy.
I squealed with excitement when I opened this on Christmas morning and when I started to use it, I just wished I had bought it sooner... It's really light on the skin, and very sheer, yet it still manages to completely even out my skin tone and any blemishes are disguised. When applied my skin feels better and hydrated and it most definitely looks more radiant and smoother.
There are a few downsides to Sheer Glow... it doesn't come with a pump so you have to buy this separately and before the pump it is a little pricey anyway (£31), but the positives definitely out weigh the negatives for me and I will continue to use this and repurchase when I come to the end of this bottle.
Something which I use every day without fail is the bareMinerals Smoothing Face brush, it has been my go-to brush for applying foundation since the day I bought it last year when it was first released. I initially picked this up as a partner for my Complexion Rescue, but it works just as well with any other liquid/gel foundation.
bareMinerals say that the duo fibre bristles mean that I can gently buff my foundation into my skin and be guaranteed a flawless, smooth base and the dome shape helps to create a blended, airbrushed effect to my makeup, which may sound a little contrived, but I have to say I completely agree with the statements they make about this brush! It's replaced all of my other foundation brushes, it's so soft and the results are always perfect. Before this I'd usually use each of my foundation brushes until they needed washing and then move on to the next, I now actually just wash this brush every week and continuously use it - it's that good!
I'm obsessed with the whole collection of Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani lipsticks, they're literally all I'm wearing on my lips at the moment. I've photographed the two I've been reaching for the most; Ex Girlfriend and 714, a beautiful nude and a matte red both of which I've worn day and night.
I just can't rave about these enough, they're massively pigmented, beautifully buttery on application (yes even the matte shade!) and as long lasting on the lips as you could wish for. I wear these with their retrospective lip liners to complete the look.
When speaking to someone about my dry skin problems, they suggested that I try swapping some of my powder products for cream products, to help disguise my skin being dry or dull looking. It seemed like such an obvious idea, but one I had never even thought of, so straight away I started making more use of my Seventeen cream bronzer and I really love it.
I apply this on top of my foundation either with my fingers or with my Real Techniques Stippling brush and blend it into the contours of my face to give a really glowy, fresh and natural bit of colour to my face (as you can see here), it's just perfect for Spring/Summer daytime makeup and at only £4.99 it's such a great price too!
As a bit of a hoarder of bath products, I rarely fall in love with anything enough to constantly repurchase it, I like to try different things all the time, but the Pineapple & Coconut Oil from Original Source has changed my way of thinking, as I already have two back up bottles of this ready to use as soon as this one is used up.
Firstly, the smell... This smells like a piƱa colada and is almost good enough to drink (but don't!), pineapple is my favourite fruit in taste and is up there as one of my favourite scents, and coconut is a classic go-to scent for me, so the combo of the two is just a dream! It's very refreshing and awakening to use in my morning shower.
Secondly the formula... This is described as an oil rather than a gel, but I would say it's somewhere in between the two, it's not completely liquid but it is packed with natural oils and soft oil beads which burst upon contact with the skin to moisturise. It's a really different product to anything I have used before, and such a good idea for those of us who suffer with dry skin on our bodies.
Last, but definitely not least is the Keihls Ultra Facial Cream which me and my face are in love with! I feel like this moisturiser has made more difference to the condition of my skin than any product I have ever used before (and I have tried a lot)!
It is a really thick, heavy cream which I like to apply before bed each night as it gives hydration to the skin for 24 hours. This means that when I am applying my makeup the following morning, the cream has been absorbed and my skin is really soft and smooth.
What makes this different to regular moisturisers is that it contains extracts of Glacial Glycoproteins which help to shield the skin from the damaging effects of free-radicals and protect against dryness and Desert Plants which contain high concentrations of potassium which provide immediate and lasting hydration and help skin to store moisture efficiently.
It also reduces moisture loss while absorbing moisture from the air - so if your skin is as thirsty as mine, this is the cream for you!

I've also still been loving the majority of products from my 2015 favourites list, especially the Urban Decay blusher, bareMinerals Complexion Rescue and coconut oil.
What products are you loving at the moment?
