My local town of Middlesbrough is fast becoming packed with trendy places to eat and drink and suddenly I’m finding myself spoilt for choice with where to go… Which let me tell you, has been a long time coming!

The latest trend seems to be dessert bars, with the newest place to open it’s doors being Creams Cafe. Creams is located opposite Alforno’s on Southfield Road, it's a really big diner style cafe with a black and purple glitter themed interior with hanging lamps, an exposed brick wall with lit up 'gelato' signage and an open kitchen area where you can see the desserts and drinks being prepared behind the glass front freezers packed full with every flavour of ice cream you can imagine.

I visited on a Saturday afternoon which was a really busy time, I was actually shocked at how busy it was considering I’ve never seen any of the other dessert bars in Middlesbrough full or even half full before.
Service was okay, we were greeted at the door and given the only clean table that was available, right next to the door and the bin (not ideal) and were told to order at the counter when we were ready.

The menu is huge; there are pancakes, waffles, sundaes, cookie dough, cakes, smoothies, shakes, coffees… It’s pretty endless and the prices are all pretty reasonable.
After plenty of deliberation I ordered the Milk Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with ice cream and a Coke and Ray ordered the Melted Belgian White Chocolate Indulgence Waffle with cream and a latte.

Our order came in dribs and drabs, my drink followed by Ray's waffle, my cookie dough and then the latte 25 minutes after ordering which was slow, but as it was so busy it could be forgiven. Most importantly though, everything was kind of delicious... the waffle was made fresh to order and decorated with fresh bananas and strawberries and the cookie dough (although not the best cookie dough I've ever tasted; can Pizza Hut ever be beaten?!), was really hot and sweet, so much so that I couldn't even manage to eat it all!

I'll definitely be heading back to Creams, if only so that I can try their peach and white chocolate crepe... I mean, how good does that sound?! I also hope to time it when it's a little quieter so that I can snap some photos of the interior, watch this space on that.

If you're not from Middlesbrough, you don't have to miss out. Creams is a franchise and have cafe's all around the country (find your closest branch here).
Have you been to Creams before?
