'I'll stop wearing black when they invent a darker colour'... A quote which is so relevant to me, even in the middle of Summer!

I love pastels as much as the next person, but I can't help but be drawn to black all year round. Black can accessorise anything, it can smarten something, dress something up and help to take an outfit through from day to night. When I found myself creating a little online shopping list on Friday night (yes, I live such a rock and roll lifestyle!) I couldn't help but notice everything was a bit black.

The majority of my accessories are black, in fact I have to make a conscious decision not to reach for black every time as it does look a little out of hand when you open my wardrobe. However these boots may be an exception; the JD Williams copy of the Topshop boots everyone wanted are a must have for anyone's wardrobe. They're a real statement piece which will look great styled with skinny jeans or dresses.
The simple black handbag from Boohoo is so affordable and so versatile, I love a big slouchy bag and this just ticks all of the boxes without breaking the bank.

When looking for new pieces for my wardrobe, I'm past the point of just liking something and buying it, I've got into the habit of justifying every purchase, planning what I'll wear it with and where I will wear it to. If I don't shop like this, I get some serious shoppers guilt!

Two pieces I have convinced myself that I need are the faux leather crocodile skin skirt from Warehouse and the beautiful scalloped bodysuit from New Look. For a night out, I'd put these together, I can also envisage the skirt with a dusty pink vest top tucked in, with a plain white tee or even with a jumper and converse for Autumn. And do I really need to justify the bodysuit?! Tucked into jeans, culottes or skirts this is always going to look good and it's so cheap.

Lastly, and unfortunately the piece I'm struggling to convince myself that I need, despite how much I want it is the Oasis dress. The pretty, pastel detailing around the neckline and sleeves make this THE black dress to wear throughout the warmer months... I just need an excuse to buy it, help me out!

Tell me I'm not the only one who wants to wear black all year round?!
