I love Autumn fashion, and the shops are suddenly filling up with so many beautiful layering pieces; the coats, the knitwear... I want it all!

Unfortunately for me the weather is still in full on Summer mode, which makes buying a new outfit quite difficult right now. I'm loving all of the jumpers, but I'd have to buy them and put them in my wardrobe until the colder weather kicks in, and that's no fun! Instead, when shopping last week I managed to pick up some of the more Summery Autumn pieces and create a wearable outfit for a day catching up over cake and coffee with Amy and then for a wander through my local town with Robbie & Elodie.

I'm still massively into the 90's trend and finally got myself a simple black choker to wear with the layered cami top... not too dissimilar to the clothes I wore when I was in my teens, although much more luxe. I really like the contrast of the dressy cami top over the plain white tee, making this a piece which can be worn dressed up or down.
For the daytime look I wanted, I decided to style this with some rolled up ripped boyfriend jeans, going wayyy out of my comfort zone from my usual skinnies and my cute little shoe boots. I think I might make this whole mixing smart with casual my thing and I definitely won't be turning my nose up at baggy jeans anymore - they're my new favourites!

Although this isn't a traditional Summer look, it's the kind of outfit which will work for plenty of occasions and will take you through from day to night. It's also made up of pieces which I know I'll be reaching for over and over again, together or apart.

I'm going to stop associating layering with the coldest months and try to enjoy the last few weeks or months of Summer in weather and in style.
I'm also going to stop believing that Summer fashion has to be represented with pastels and floral prints... Who says you can't create a fresh look with the most basic of pieces?
