Eat, Sleep, Blog, Repeat... Or something along those lines! It's so easy to get stuck in a bit of a repetitive routine when blogging full time.
Don't get me wrong I love, love, love my blog, and for some people I know that doing this full time is their dream, but let me tell you, it's not all sunshine and rainbows.
My days are spent inside the house, on the laptop, taking photos, editing, uploading, typing... You get the picture. What people don't realise sometimes is just how lonely and how repetitive it can be. I would never call it boring, because for me that isn't the case, but I pray for those days where someone strikes up an interesting conversation with me on Twitter on Instagram and for those evenings when Robbie comes home from work to tell me we're going out!
Long gone are the days when I'm overly picky about where we go and what we do, I'm grateful for any time out we can manage, the only thing I ask is that I get the opportunity to dress up (or even better, have an excuse to buy a new outfit!)
My favourite things to do for a treat are either going for a meal and cocktails where I can usually get away with buying a new dress or blouse to wear with skinny jeans and heels or to the cinema, although this option doesn't really qualify for a new outfit.
For something a little different I'm partial to an evening at the races or to the casino, where I spend more time worrying about my outfit than what I'm going to bet on!
Dressing up for the races is usually quite straight forward; a floral dress and heels is always a winner, however I was initially surprised at how dressed up people get for a night at the casino. It's a great place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary because the food is always good and you can really glam up without looking out of place.
I first went to my local casino when I was about 23 and I remember feeling quite under dressed. My go-to outfit for an impromptu evening there now is always my skinny leather look jeans with a PJ-shirt style blouse or a printed shirt tucked in of course with heeled sandals and a clutch.
For an occasion (it seems to be my family's favourite place when a special birthday comes around) I always find myself shopping for a dressy dress, similar to what I'd wear for a night out with the girls and of course I go all out with the tan, hair and makeup too. But of course, while the casino experience is something unique to each one of us, all the hassle of finding something to wear can be avoided now thanks to the internet. More and more people are choosing to stay in the comfort of their homes and play in online casinos, which is a very reasonable option.
Breaking the boring routine isn't always about spending money though, towards the end of the month I can still enjoy myself taking a walk along the beach or in the woods or ordering a takeaway and watching a film. It really is just about switching off from blogging for a few hours, forgetting about social media and enjoying some family and friends time.
Now that I've realised this, I feel like I enjoy the work side of blogging much more and appreciate the time away from my laptop - it's a win, win situation.
How do you change up your routine to prevent things from getting boring?
