Benefit were the first 'high end' beauty brand I invested in, and I remember the day so well.
I was pregnant, I'd just started my blog and I was shopping in Manchester... After being drawn to the beautiful packaging, I was soon chatting to the sales assistant who sat me down and started trying products on my face.
The rest, as they say, is history. I was sold... I bought Hello Flawless powder, That Gal primer and Coralista blush, and little did I know I was fast to become a bit of a beauty addict.
Eight years later, I still love Benefit and use their products every single day.
I thought I'd do a bit of a round up of my all-time favourites and a wishlist of new products that I am desperate to try.
I'm a fan of every Benefit blusher that I've ever used, but my favourite of them all and ironically the first I ever tried is Coralista. This really is the most perfect pink toned orange, which has a slight golden sheen to it which transfers on the skin to give a really beautiful glow and flush of colour.
Despite having a slight shimmer to it, this applies and blends so smoothly to look really natural, but the high pigmentation allows for a lot of colour to be built up if required.
This is one of my most worn blush colours ever, mainly because it's so flattering on my skin tone and just so damn pretty.
My favourite Benefit product right now, and possibly ever is Gimmie Brow. It wasn't instant love for me with this however, it did take me a lot of perseverance and a bit of trial and error to find my way with it, but now that I have, not a day goes by where I don't reach for this.
I use it in shades three and five, both of which suit my brow colour together or alone. The tinted gel contains tiny fibres which grip to my brow hairs, making my brows appear thicker and fuller, and the gel itself helps to set the brows in place. By applying this after my brow powder, I am able to achieve a fluffy and natural, yet defined brow.
Porefessional is another favourite, well, they all are, but this is a real favourite. I like to refer to this as the primer that solves everything... This gives me the smoothest skin, it evens out any redness, it minimises my pores and disguises those awful lines I'm developing - it's basically a miracle worker. Not only does it do all of those added things, but it actually primes the skin perfectly for makeup application and helps my makeup to last so much longer than it does without it. Do I need to say anymore?!
A real cult Benefit product, that it seems everyone loves is They're Real mascara. For days when I want lashes that have real impact and wow, there's nothing else I would choose to use.
The glossy, jet black formula leaves my lashes looking so long, so thick and so perfect, it really does trick people into thinking I'm wearing false lashes. The plastic bristled brush picks up every single lash hair, even those tiny ones on the inner corner and bottom lash line, you really do find lashes you didn't know you had with this mascara.
It dries quickly, only really requires one coat and lasts all day without smudging or flaking (something which I'm a real guinea pig for with my have eyelids)... It's a must have in everyone's collection. I love this so much, I also have the brown version, which I love to wear whenever I use a maroon or green shade eyeshadow.
Last but not least in my top five is another product that has been in my collection for as long as I can remember. The ultimate concealer for some serious coverage; Erase Paste. Whether I need to cover the angriest spot or the darkest circles after a night with no sleep, this tiny little pot contains the magic that always does the job. It's thick, yet blendable and can disguise any imperfections.
I'm also a fan of using this on my brow bones or down the centre of my nose to add a little highlight... and lord knows, I love a multi use product! It's just so easy to use, simple pat onto the skin and blend with your finger tips or a brush - job done.
Although my Benefit collection is rather huge, there are still plenty of products I am yet to try.
My current wish list consists of some products I've used before and some which are completely new to me. If you've tried any of these, let me know in the comments if I really do need them in my life!
Precisely My Brow Pencil: A really thin pencil which can be used to define the underneath of the brow (I've had this technique used on me loads of times at the Benefit Brow Bar I go to and it makes such a positive difference to the look of the brows) or to draw in realistic, individual brow hairs and fill in the brow.
They're Real Double The Lip Lipsticks: The new lipsticks that I am just desperate to try. I love the packaging, but more so, I love that they are a lipstick and lip liner in one. This is genius, and the ideal product for a lazy girl like me who never really bothers with liner. I'm mainly lusting after the shades Juicy Berry and Lusty Rose, but I'm tempted by the whole collection to be honest!
High Brow Pencil: Another brow product that I've been introduced to in store and as I am obsessed with defining my brows, I really don't know how I haven't bought this already! When this is blended underneath and above my brows after filling them in, they always look their very best, and it's such a quick step to add to your makeup routine.
Dew The Hoola Liquid Bronzer: I haven't had much experience (if any) with liquid bronzers, but this just intrigues me so much... I've swatched it in store and the shade is a natural, buildable tan colour. I think this would be great mixed with my foundation for Summer or blended to create a subtle contour.
Dandelion Shy Beam: This is a bit of a revolutionary product, it's a matte liquid highlight... intriguing right?! I've had this used on my cheekbones and brow bone in store and it's just so pretty and subtle and completely unlike anything else I own. It's the ideal daytime highlight.
Watt's Up: I have saved this until last, although this one has been on my wishlist for the longest. I feel as though everyone has tried this except me, and I really need to change that. It's a really soft, golden cream highlight... Ideal for nights out, perfect for carrying around and topping up when needed, it's just beautiful.
