As a rule, I'm all about glowy skin... Anything radiant, highlighting and brightening instantly draws me in. However, during the warmer months my skin can get quite oily and I can go from looking glowy to sweaty quite easily, and no one wants that! This is when I find myself searching for a mattifying base that still allows for a little radiance or brightness from within, and until now I had been unable to find something which worked for me.
Clarins have been really on top of the game this year with their new releases, with the new Pore Perfecting Mattifying Foundation possibly being my favourite so far. This reminds me very much of Benefit Porefessional in it's formula and consistency... It is creamy on application, blends really easily and leaves the skin feeling very soft and velvety. It also does the job of blurring imperfections and disguising pores with it's light and natural coverage.
When wearing this, I feel as though I am wearing a tinted moisturiser rather than a foundation, as it's so lightweight on my skin, which is perfect for Summer as my skin is able to breathe from beneath my makeup. Despite it being a light coverage base, it still manages to leave my skin tone looking even and with a little concealer, I'm good to go.
Available to buy in five shades, I wear the lightest shade 01 Nude Ivory.
On days where my skin is suffering from dry patches, I make sure to prime the skin, or mix in a little bit of hydrating serum to the foundation before applying, just to make sure the foundation doesn't emphasise any dryness, but as far as mattifying foundations go, I would say this is one of the most hydrating I have used.
It is also quite radiant when blended, which is one of the reasons I love it so much... Yes it has a mattifying effect on my oily t-zone, but it doesn't have that flat, matte finish to it, which I always try to avoid. This is mainly due to the addition of soft focus pearls in the foundation which allow light to reflect off the foundation and give the effect of radiant skin.
The second new release is the Pore Mattifying Kit which contains a beautiful translucent setting powder and oil blotting papers, a duo which will combat any shine or oil you may suffer with and are formulated not to dry the skin out.
I have never used blotting papers on my skin before, but I can imagine them becoming really handy for hot days when I always seem to get an oily forehead and nose, especially as they come packaged in the luxurious little compact, ideal for popping into your handbag for on the go touch ups.
The powder is so silky and so fine when applied, it leaves the skin feeling the softest it could possibly feel, all while setting your makeup in place and controlling that dreaded shine. With it being translucent this will work for anyone's skin tone and the two really do work together beautifully.
These products are available to buy from Monday... Will you be treating yourself?
