Last year someone told me about The Pancake Kitchen in Seaham, and I have been wanting to visit ever since. Located on Seaham Harbour, it's in the perfect location, especially on a Summers day when you can sit outside and enjoy the sun and the views.
The place itself is just a regular little cafe, it's quite small and everything is very basic, but nevertheless clean and welcoming. The menu is small, but offers a mixture of sweet and savoury things to eat and a selection of cold drinks and coffees.
Of course we had visited for the pancakes, so it didn't take us too long to choose what to order. I picked the Honeycomb Surprise pancake, a fresh pancake served with homemade chunks of cinder toffee, toffee sauce, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream and Robbie ordered the Forest Fruits pancake which was filled with fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries and topped with fruit coulis, ice cream and cream.
Elodie wasn't hungry, so we just ordered a child's hot chocolate for her, which she said was really yummy.
Our pancakes were really delicious too, so fresh and so huge - we didn't quite manage to finish them off! I'd highly recommend them if you have a sweet tooth though, I'll definitely go back for another next time I'm in the area.
