Looking back over 2017, I realised that I had some really good times, so I thought I'd collate a top ten list of my favourite moments from the year.
There has been a mixture of blogging highlights, family time and trips away that have stood out for me, and made what is now last year, a year to remember for all of the right reasons.
I couldn't write this post without mentioning the fact that in January, I won the Johnson & Johnson Award for Best Established Blogger - Easily the biggest highlight of my blogging career to date.
As I've been blogging for over eight years, it felt amazing to have my work recognised, especially by such a highly respected company and a judging panel made up of people I have huge admiration for.
I still feel so much pride and happiness when I think about this, and have my trophy displayed in pride of place in my office.
I also squeezed in a trip to London in January. I really wish I could spend more time in the capital, but living so far away makes me treasure my time there more. During my time there I managed to attend a couple of events, have a meeting and catch up with one of my best friends Jenny, who I don't see often enough - it was lovely!
During 2017 I've been to quite a few live gigs, and anyone who knows me, knows how much I love my concerts and live music. I got to see my fave boy Olly Murs live three times (all of which were just brilliant) and I saw Ben Haenow again too. I'm hoping I get to see them both again in 2018, and I'm super excited that Boyzone are coming back for another tour soon to celebrate 25 years together... I'll definitely be there.
A stand out weekend for me, included an impromptu visit to Newcastle Quayside market. I love food markets and I love Newcastle, so to go along so randomly just made it even better. It was in the Summer, so the weather was gorgeous and it was our first time taking Elodie to the Quayside... We ate loads of lovely food and sat in the sun overlooking the Tyne while we had a drink. It was one of those days where everything was really simple, but it was just lovely and really stood out to me as a perfect day.
During the Summer months, myself and Elodie enjoyed a few days in Scarborough, visiting my Aunty and doing all of the fun tourist things I used to do there when I was younger. We rode the boats on the lake, went on the beach, visited the Sealife Centre, went on a pirate boat and ate fish & chips and ice creams. Scarborough is a place which is really special to me, as I've been going there all my life, and it's really nice to repeat tradition with Elodie... We always love our time there.
I loved the day we spent in York. Despite living only an hour or so away, we never go, and it's such a lovely place that I enjoy more and more every time I visit.
We did all the little tourist things like walking along the bustling streets of the Shambles, visiting the fudge shops, eating ice cream by the river and we even went into the York Chocolate Story museum (which was good, but really overpriced FYI) and best of all, the weather was glorious.
I'm hoping to be able to visit again this year, for another family day and hopefully for a night out or a Summer day session, I always here such great things about York for that kind of thing.
Elodie and I randomly visited a place near the North Yorkshire moors called Falling Foss in the Summer holidays, and it quickly became one of my favourite places we've ever been.
I've decided that it has to become tradition that we visit at least once a year, we just loved it so much.
The day we visited was really warm, and it was lovely to walk down towards the waterfall through the woods. The woodland themed play area is great for children, and the on site tea room is perfect for the adults and children alike, with delicious treats including bacon sandwiches, freshly baked cakes and scones served with cream and jam - On a day where the weather is good, I can't recommend this place enough.
I had my first proper night out in years in the Summer, when Robbie took me to Newcastle. I very rarely drink, so it didn't take long until I was drunk, but it was so great to let my hair down, dress up and just enjoy my night... The next day I was really suffering though, and it quickly reminded me why I usually choose a night in with food and a film. Once a year though, I think I can cope with, it was so much fun!
There isn't one specific moment, but I have to include how much Elodie has made me proud this year. She has grown so much in size and in confidence in the last 12 months... She made the decision to have her ears pierced, she joined Brownies, choir and knitting club, always keeps busy, tries her very best and has the most positive outlook on everything.
Without doubt the best day of 2017 has been Christmas day. It was just so perfect, so happy, so fun... I loved it. We had the most amazing dinner, everyone gave and received some truly wonderful presents and it was just lovely to spend time surrounded by family. Elodie said it was the best Christmas ever, which is good enough for me!

Did you have a good 2017? I would love to read your blog posts if you've done anything similar to this.
Here's to a brilliant 2018 too!
