I've mentioned a few times on social media that I've been suffering from a severe case of the Spring flu and as it seems like its been more common than the common cold this so called 'Spring', I thought I'd give you all some hints and tips about the beauty products that have helped me through in case you're needing some help too!

Now I'm no miracle worker, none of the beauty products mentioned in this post will cure the flu, or really make you feel any better at all. However, they will might make you feel like slightly less of a zombie if you do need to go out or face anyone when all you really want to do is binge watch Friends in bed.
For my skin, I have been reaching for my jar of Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep constantly. I think it's quite a common thing, that when you have a bad cold or virus, your skin visibly suffers, and mine really took the hit from my illness over the last few weeks.
I have dry skin anyway, but it seemed more dehydrated and tighter than ever before, and if it wasn't for this little pot of cream, I don't know how I would have coped!
Skin Sleep contains sodium hyaluronate which provides the skin with up to 1000 times in weight in water hydration and locks in the moisture and niacinaminde which fights dullness and improves your skins barrier function against the elements.
After just one night of using this, my skin instantly felt more comfortable, plumper, softer and much more awake. It replicates a good, healthy night's sleep for me and definitely left my skin looking much better than I felt! I also found that the gel like consistency of the cream was cooling and calming to apply, which is exactly what I needed when I kept burning up.
An added bonus is that the lid is also a mirror, so I didn't even have to leave my bed to be able to properly apply it!
Unfortunately, not only the skin on my face suffers when I'm poorly, especially with the flu I've just had. Everywhere was feeling achy, uncomfortable and in desperate need of some TLC, which is why I found myself loving (and relying on) the Leighton Denny Marvel Balm
Until very recently, I didn't even know Leighton Denny made anything other than nail polish, but I am so glad I found out, as this became a real lifesaver for me... It kind of does what it says on the tin. It is a multi-purpose balm made with marula oil, grapeseed oil and vitamin E, which work together to restore skin elasticity, stimulate skin cell circulation and improve the skin's moisture content and texture.
I was using this on my hands, nails, elbows, feet... Pretty much allover!
Now, please reassure me that I'm not the only one who suffers from terribly greasy hair when they're poorly? I don't know whether it's because I'm lying in bed a lot, that I may skip a hair wash day because I don't feel up to it, something to do with the virus, or a mixture of all three. Whatever it is, I can't get through a sick day without dry shampoo, and the best one I've found (and I have tried A LOT) is the L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay variety. It's lightweight, not at all powdery, and completely refreshes my hair giving volume and shine... I just love it.

I do have to admit that in one way, my illness was a blessing in disguise, because it got me to try out my Sunday Riley Luna Oil, which had been sitting in my beauty room for a few weeks untouched, but is now firmly sitting well used and well loved at the front of my skincare stash.
I'm sure you've heard plenty about this cult product already, but if not, it's a retinol treatment which targets visible signs of skin damage, treats and rejuvenates the surface of the skin while reducing fine lines and visible pores.
Used in my nighttime skincare routine, this oil has done absolute wonders for my skins appearance... I now now why everyone raves about it so much. My skin is slowly but surely improving (since I've recovered from flu, I've still been using this), my skin is so soft to the touch, dryness is kept at bay and makeup applies so much better. I have a full and in depth review of this coming next week, so check back if you want to know more!
And lastly, a product that you don't want to NEED in Spring, but I have been desperately using daily thanks to said cold is the Hempz lip balm, because yes, just like every other part of me, my lips were suffering too.
Throughout my lifetime I must have tried more lip balms than is imaginable, and I have to say that this is one of the best. Enriched with 100% pure hemp seed oil, this conditions, nourishes and hydrates the lips. It has a thick, balm like consistency, yet isn't sticky at all, it sinks into the lips and leaves them feeling so much softer after just one application.
As an added bonus, Hempz products are gluten free and 100% vegan.

Hopefully you've managed to avoid any colds or flu this season, but if you haven't, let me know if you've been using any of these products too.
