Last Saturday we were up bright and early to set off for a day in Manchester. As much as we love the city, the day was all for Elodie, as she was a VIP guest at the Lego Friends House of Heart Tour.

If you have children around Elodie's age, you may already know, the House of Heart Tour has been travelling around the UK visiting various Intu shopping centers promoting Lego Friends with the YouTube stars of the future 'The Heart Squad'. We attended the Manchester Arndale date starring 'Sallybelle' aka Isabelle Ingham from The Ingham Family.

The House of Heart looked amazing, a huge, bright house surrounded by life size Lego models of the Lego Friends characters. Inside were displays of Lego models, games to play, an interactive photo booth and of course lots of Lego for the children to play with.
Lego Friends doesn't stop with the Lego itself, there is a TV series, comic, books, computer games and so much more surrounding the 5 girls, all of whom have different character traits, hobbies and looks, yet they all get on as best friends... This gives every child a character to relate to and identify with.

The Heart Squad are made up of five young Youtube stars, who are representing the brand and spreading the message of friendship, confidence and positivity to their fans with the help from Lego.

The Ingham family arrived, with Isabelle taking centre stage for her meet and greets - It was unbelievable how many people turned up, there were thousands of hysterical children, all bursting with excitement to meet their YouTube favourites, Elodie included! It reminded me of the kind of hysteria I used to be part of when I was going to see my favourite singers as a teenager - It just shows how much impace YouTube has these days!
The Ingham Family are just short of 1 million subscribers on their YouTube channel, and Isabelle has over 200,000 on her channel of her own, and it's easy to see why they are so popular. They're real and they're relatable for anyone who watches.
All of the family were really lovely, and great with all of the children who had come along to meet them... Even Isla, who is only 6 was mingling with the crowds and signing autographs.

Isabelle spoke about how the Lego Heart Squad are working to empower young people to be themselves, to be happy, confident and kind to all - a really strong message for people of their age, and definitely something I know Elodie really took on board. It's such a positive way to use the influence of these young YouTubers.

From a very young age I have encouraged Elodie to be creative and we always try to incorporate this into play... Now that she's eight, she is naturally drawn to more imaginative styles of play, but with Lego, you can start at any age with Duplo and Lego toys.
Elodie is at the perfect age to be playing with, building and creating models from the Lego Friends range, and always asks for new sets when we go shopping or on special occasions.

I always used to love playing with Lego when I was little, following instructions to make models or using my imagination to create buildings and little towns for my Lego figures to live in. I think in this day and age, now that children are often more interested in iPads and computers, it's really important to give them physical toys to play with too, as these kind of toys are a really fun way of boosting the imagination and creativity of children, which obviously plays a huge part in a child's development.

Elodie is quite a quiet girl, but with a little encouragement she loves to be involved and to try new things. Despite being a little shy when meeting the family at first (she was really star struck!, by the end she was loving it, and was brave enough to ask for their autographs, which she has treasured ever since.

Unfortunately the House of Heart tour is now over, but if you have children, they can keep up to date with the Heart Squad on their channels all linked in this video.
Thank you so much to Lego & Very for inviting us along for the day.
