Whenever I buy new makeup, I can't help but reach for the products that are going to give my skin a real glow. I live for dewy skin all year round and I am a real believer that a fresh faced look for daytime just can't be beaten, especially when finished off with a beautiful highlight, a simple eye and a natural nude or pink lipstick.
First things first, if you're going to nail the glowy skin look, you just have to get the base right. As long as your skin is glowing, the rest will follow, which is a mantra I have lived by for pretty much all of my makeup-wearing life, as you would be able to tell if you saw my huge collection of primers. To prep the skin, recently I have been using Bobbi Brown's Vitamin Enriched Face Base. As my skin has been badly suffering from dryness, this has been priming my skin as well as moisturising and locking in hydration underneath my makeup, which tends to last all day and help combat any problem areas. It makes for a great base/skincare option and when I have wanted that extra glow from underneath, I have been strategically placing a small amount of the Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer onto my cheek bones and down the centre of my nose.

Over the years I have tried lots of high end foundations and have repurchased the same three constantly for as long as I can remember, all of which have a lovely dewy finish to them. I have also recently fallen completely in love with Double Wear Water Fresh which is just beautiful on my dry skin. This foundation is lightweight and really hydrating, which is just ideal for my troublesome skin. It blends to give a really flawless finish, which is where a lot of others have failed, and sits on my skin so naturally, it doesn't even look like I'm wearing any makeup. The formula is a medium coverage, but I have been able to build it up a little where needed, and the fresh and radiant finish it gives to my skin is just beautiful.

To conceal, I look for something heavy duty, preferably with some kind of light reflecting properties as I can get really dark circles under my eyes and I need something that can combat that. My under eye product of choice is always going to be Touché Eclat but as the bank balance doesn't always support it, I have discovered some really great dupes. For a short time, you can still get your hands on the Seventeen makeup version and if that fails, I really rate the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define too!

I don't tend to reach for powders to set my makeup, as you're almost instantly mattified when you do. However, if you do get a little oily, or want to set some concealer over a blemish, then there are two I've found that still leave the skin with a radiant finish; Bourjois' Rice Powder is a very fine, slightly shimmery, pink toned loose powder, which blends onto the skin so seamlessly and softly, leaving an almost invisible, yet effective seal to your base, or if you prefer a pressed powder, I can't recommend bareMinerals Perfecting Veil enough, this is always my powder of choice as it's just so brightening, unlike any other powder I have ever used.

I always like to add some colour to my complexion with a bronzer, usually reaching for the mecca; Benefit Hoola or my beloved Rodial Instaglam Bronzing Powder, both of which work so well on my skin tone for contouring or as an all over bronzer. Next comes highlight, which is a really important step in the routine, as it adds that extra glow that we all set out to achieve. Highlighter options are definitely something that my collection isn't lacking, but there are a few go-to products that I tend to choose more often that others... Most recently, my highlight of choice has been the NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator; a pink toned liquid highlight which gives a really natural, pretty glow to the skin and when I want something a little more intense, I still really rate the Sleek Solstice Palette.

For any extra colour on my cheeks (this admittedly, can be a step I miss out of my beauty routine a lot) is the addition of a blusher. I always choose something peachy toned, or a deeper pink with brown or even purple undertones. My favourites are Coralista, Rockateur (because Benefit really do, do the best blushers!) and Urban Decay's 'Rapture', which is an all time favourite of mine.

The finishing touches to a look, that can really make a lot of difference are also kind of subjective. You can choose to add a gloss to your eyelid, if you want to achieve an editorial look or for something more generic, there are plenty of options for eyeshadows. My go-to palette when I want something shimmery that will reflect the light and add to the glow, is always going to be Naked 3, it's got every colour you could need to complete the look.
Finally, you can go with any kind of product for the lips, a bright, dark or nude lip will always work when your skin is glowy. This time around I used Bitch Perfect and topped it off with a small amount of Marvellous Moxie lipgloss.

This has become a bit of a go-to look for me recently, it's so easy, it's natural enough to wear during the day (I just take out the eyeshadow and lip gloss) and then add them in if I want to dress it up a little.
