Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great night last night, whether you were out on the town getting tipsy or sitting in with a takeaway like we did, here's to a great year ahead for us all. I thought that  I'd use today to share my list of plans for 2019, which, instead of the usual list of resolutions ( I haven't bothered wasting my time with any of those this year!) are all things I have promised myself to see and do in the North East over the next 12 months. Some are places I have been before and want to revisit, others are places I have never been before.
I love living in the North East so much and I really want to make 2019 the year that I tick lots off my wish list. People seem to have a preconception that there's not much to do in the North, but there really is! I'm hoping that by writing these down and sharing the list with you all, that I'll feel more motivated to actually make things happen and do the things I want to do this year.

I really want to eat at the Treehouse restaurant at Alnwick Garden. I booked it as a surprise Father's Day meal last year but one of us was poorly so we had to cancel, so hopefully Robbie won't read this and I'll be able to pull off the surprise again this year. Their menu is the perfect mixture of posh yet not too fancy, they do Sunday lunches (which is always a winner with us), and the restaurant itself is stunning, I feel like it's a must visit place for a special occasion.

After visiting the Great British Cupcakery endless times, it's been ages since we were there. So long that I haven't been since it's gorgeous Insta-worthy makeover, which I just have to see! I'm also majorly craving one of their delicious chocolate scones, so the sooner we can go, the better!

If Friends Fest comes back to Newcastle in 2019, I swear I will be first in line for tickets. Friends is my favourite show ever and I don't actually know why I haven't been before now! After seeing everyone's blog posts and Insta stories from the little sets, I know I would love it so much and getting a photo on the Central Perk sofa would pretty much complete my life!
Believe it or not, despite driving past a few thousand times, we have never actually stopped and visited the Angel of the North. This should be an easy one to tick off the list - keep your eyes out on my Instagram grid, as I'm sure to take a few photos when I do finally make it there.

I know that Elodie would love to go to Dog and Scone the dog cafe in Newcastle. I've done my best to keep this place a complete secret from her, and so far, so good, I don't think she knows it exists. It will be the best surprise when we do take her, she loves dogs so much, I'm excited about this one already!

Whether we get to go on holiday this year or not, I really hope that we get the chance to spend a long weekend staying somewhere on the Northumberland coast. We never really venture North of Newcastle, but I know there is so much more to see and experience up there, a little staycation would be the perfect way to explore. If there are any must see places or if you have recommendations for where we could stay, I'd appreciate any suggestions.

For my birthday in November, we were supposed to be having a meal at Tomahawk in Yarm, a place I have been wanting to go to since it opened, but again, Robbie was poorly (we've had such a bad year for illness in our house!) so we had to miss out. It's still top of my list for somewhere to go for a meal, their choice of steaks is incredible, everything on the menu looks really tasty and right up my street!

My Mam has always told me to go and see High Force and I still haven't been! I really enjoy walking and spending time outside, so I think I'll plan us a trip to see the waterfalls in the Summer where we can make a day of it and take a picnic too. I'd also really love to go back to Falling Foss this year too, it's such a lovely place for a day out as a family.
For a long time I have wanted to have afternoon tea at Jesmond Dene House. I have seen so many pictures, and it looks delicious every time! Afternoon tea is one of my favourite treats, I'd love to get my girls together and spend a few hours there sipping prosecco and exploring the grounds after we've eaten.

After attending the opening night of the Garage Spa, I always promised myself that I would book myself in for a spa day and some treatments either there or at the equally beautiful Ramside Hall where I went for a hen party in September. Believe it or not, I've never actually been to a spa, other than for the launch night, so it's about time I got booked in!

The last food related place I want to visit (for now!) is Proven Goods Co in Newcastle. I have bought plenty of delicious doughnuts from their stall on the Quayside Market, but haven't been since they opened their own little cafe which serves the best looking hot chocolates I have ever seen (did you read Chloe's post?!). If you take a look at their Instagram page, you'll understand why I want to go so badly, I'm just worried I won't be able to stay away!

As a huge Newcastle United fan, I want to make sure to go to a game of two at St James Park this year. It's ages since I made it to actually watch a match and I really miss it, there was a time when we were there almost every week having a drink in Shearer's bar and cheering on the lads. Maybe I'll be a lucky charm and we will win a game or two too!

I really wanted to go along to the Sunderland Illuminations this year but again, we didn't manage to go, so next year I'm hoping to be able to go along and see the lights. I always get really into the Christmas spirit and want to do everything in the lead up to the big day, which is always a problem, as there's never enough time to fit everything into our diaries. I heard such good things about the illuminations this year that I'll make sure this is closer to the top of the list for 2019.

Are there any places that you're hoping to visit in the North East this year?
